After working up an appetite from surfing in Waikiki beach, we decided to go over the list of restaurants suggested by our hotel Vive Waikiki. Since it was my birthday, I wanted to go somewhere a little nice, someplace relaxed and obviously with delicious food. That’s when we decided on Noi Thai Cuisine.
The Bai Tong family ran a restaurant in Sea- Tac airport which was a popular stopover for Thai Airways crews. Restaurant owner Noi Lapangkura envisaged her family’s authentic Thai cooking in Hawaii and opened Noi Thai Cuisine. The food, the decor and service all live up to the royal elegance and world class excellence that the restaurant promises its customers. I would come back here in a heartbeat!
Pineapple Fried Rice
Jasmine rice infused with yellow curry flavor, stir fried with pineapple, cashew nuts, tofu, raisins and onions.
Tom Kah Gai Soup
Tofu, straw mushroom caps, lemongrass, spring onions, cilantro and enticing taste of galangal roots infused with coconut milk.
Tofu is simmered in coconut milk with potatoes, broccoli and peppers. I can never visit a Thai restaurant without ordering curry!
Gluay Buad Chi
This simple dessert consists of half ripe bananas simmered in aromatic coconut milk and palm sugar. It tastes quite similar to a dessert from Southern India.
