**Note: Previously known as the Indian Workers Resource Centre (IWRC)**
Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendra (PBSK) is an initiative by the Government of India to provide a source of support for the Indian expatriate community.
Indians living abroad often have to navigate many issues and PBSK is committed to their welfare. Common issues faced by overseas Indians include:
- Immigration and Residency paperwork
- Legal documentation
- Employment Fraud and Job Scams
- Work Stress and Financial Problems
- Culture shock and Homesickness
- Marriage Stress and Family Counseling
Often, individuals feel isolated and alone when they come face-to-face with such dilemmas. But the Indian Consulate-General and PBSK want to assure Indian expatriates that such problems are not exclusive and are relatively common.
PBSK has a 24/7 toll free helpline where Indians can call to register their grievances and seek guidance. PBSK partners with the UAE Amnesty Programme, experts from help groups, different authorities, and social workers to offer legal, financial as well as personal counseling. These one-to-one services are completely free. In order to ease communication, PBSK provides assistance in five languages:
Through the Crisis Prevention Program (CPP), PBSK also provides therapeutic services to Indian citizens who cannot afford psychological services. The brainchild behind this pioneering initiative is Counseling Psychologist Sailaja Menon. The first psychologist to specialize in Multicultural Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, Sailaja has over 25 years of experience in the US, India, Singapore, Malaysia and UAE.
